HG GUNDAM TR-1 HAZEL-2 REVIEW

INTRODUCTION

After Lt. Wes Murphy's Gundam TR-1 [Hazel] is heavily damaged in combat with Zeon remnants, it is repaired and improved using a RGM-79Q GM Quel stationed at Conpeito and spare Hazel parts stored aboard the Aswan. This "Hazel Custom" reflects the combat data and development know how accumulated by the original Hazel. The machine's enhancement parts, which previously seemed like an afterthought, have been better balanced with the other parts and the machine's internal structure to make it a more complete mobile suit. As a result, its external appearance has a more unified feel, and its lighter weight and increased thruster output give it roughly 10% greater acceleration. A 360-degree panoramic monitor and linear seat system have been installed in its cockpit on an experimental basis, and its operating system has also been upgraded, so this machine's operation is greatly advanced from the original Hazel. The model number of this rebuilt Hazel has been shifted from RX-121 to RX-121-1. Because the Hazel's unique shield boosters were lost in its previous battles, the Hazel Custom is equipped with a normal shield for the time being. The loss of the shield boosters admittedly reduces the Hazel Custom's mobility, but its overall performance increase is enough to make up for this. Due to its redeployment schedule there wasn't time to repaint the machine in Titans colors, so most of its armor remains the grey color in which it was molded.

HEAD UNIT

the head unit rank low due to multiple falts present within there. the monitor hole seems to be unable to completely fill up unless with the help of putting putty within the gaps.

BODY UNIT

the body unit deserve to get a rather high score as compared to models of it time, is shoulders could bend and make more flexible posses, however it fails to get full marks due to the gap within in which prevents it from fully closing making it quite a troublesome model to built. however, that does not matter much as every thing could be solved by aplying putty on the sides with one drawback, it cant bend its ahoulders after that.

ARM UNIT

the arm unit is rather well constructedto a sense thati could bend a full ninety degrees, making posing very easy and it could reach all the way to the back pack and grab for the beam sabre rather easily, thus scoring high for a HG model

LEG UNIT

the leg is unit is indeed the best constructed part of the model. the legs could bend to such an angle that it is like an surfing mobile suit. with the help of a stand, you could display the mobile suit to very much like what it looks in the manga. the painting is hardly required in this model and the same goes for panel markering. maving standard gundam markers or some oil markers could easily do the job. if you happen to use gundam markers, prepare some alchohol papers to rub of he excess paint.

WEAPONS/BOOSTER/EXTRAS & FINAL VERDICT

the booster pack is rather well designed but the thrusters are rather lose so some minor liquid cementing would be needed. the movable thrusters are rather flexible, just like what it shows in the manga. the weapons on the hazel custom is rather well designed, but the mold is rather badly made thus quite alot of sandpapering would be needed to file of the ugly mold marks, the design is also rather bad as when you try to mold the rifle together, there would be some air spaces stuck within it, making the modle rather dificult. the missle pods on the shoulders are rather badly designed as they kept coming off and this making it difficult and the holes are not well designed, making the gaps betwee the missle pods and the shoulders are rather huge, making the model look like some tiny suit stuck in some big bulky armour.

In conclusion, the hazel custom is a rather difficult model which i dont really suggest for everyone as the manfacturing falts made it quite difficult to make and assemble, so save your money and prepare for other MGs or HGs or anything else.

to VIncent: Sorry about the late review as i am stuck with some business and the pics would be late as my PC is under repair.

No worries Hathaway.
I will try and find some default pics again which I will take down once you submit your own.

Btw I love the look of this kit, sad to see that it doesn't build too well if you don't use putty.

Great work! The Hazel Custom color scheme looks very cool. I was looking at the MAHQ page you sent me and the legs look awesome, any chance you can upload some images showing-off the legs on your kit?

Oh I see, since the Hazel is like the MKII with armor, I thought you had painted it one way and changed your mind lol, I'll move the images over.
