INTRODUCTION

This is the kit that started my introduction into Gundam Modeling and stands in pretty bad shape today covered in a sloppy paint job done by my uncoordinated 11yr old self.
In fact it's in such bad shape I wasn't sure about putting up this review as the kit is missing a part of it's front skirt and a thruster in the back. However as with the attitude of this site, where no review from any skill level and no point of view is ever worthless, I introduce to you the F71B G-Cannon Magna

HEAD UNIT

The head unit is impressive as it consist of a real green transparent visor instead of the stickers we normally see today. Construction is simple but still articulates well with the polycap used at the neck allowing for full motion. Another stand out is the supplied reflective red sticker that molds onto the forehead giving a nice contrast to the visor.

BODY UNIT

This kit actually comes with two body units, one to equip the cannons and another to fit rail guns. I personally like the style of the body unit supporting the cannon setup as the breast fenders are more pronounce with a white trim and rounder corners. Again construction is simple consisting of only two pieces of molding and 1 polycap to connect the lower torso. However because of this simplicity, it also means painting will be necessary for detailing. Although it comes with 2 stickers for the breast fenders, I found them too small, and ended up having to use *white-out* and border trimming of other stickers to cover the fins. Yup those were my techniques when I was 11yrs old.

Moving down to the Pelvic torso, the skirt amour is nicely detailed with the skirt amour being made of 5 main individual pieces, 2 for the front skirt amour, 2 for the side skirt amour and the pelvic base torso allowing for detailed skirt articulation from all sides except the back.

ARM UNIT

Besides the obvious huge shoulder Cannons, a major draw factor to this kit is the arm unit that consist of 2 small cannons which protrude near the wrist, undercover by the sturdy looking arm amour.
The construction of the arm unit is simple mainly consisting of 2 pieces of molding and a polycap per arm limb resulting in great articulation. When moving down to the fingers, it is impressive that like MG kits, there is articulation in the index finger and the following 3 fingers allowing for some creative finger pointing poses

LEG UNIT

And just like then and now, I'm drawn to the propulsion system on this kit starting with the leg unit. Attached to hints of leg internals are thrusters that flow with the leg design and are amazing when viewed from cinematic angles. The Leg unit construction is simple but also fitted with many polycaps for good articulation. A stand out would be the internal block that attaches the shin to the feet giving a good run for your imagination that there is a lot more going on inside those legs.

WEAPONS/BOOSTER/EXTRAS & FINAL VERDICT

The backpack was what really sold me on this kit, with the cannons folded into the side and a hail of thrusters at the back; it felt as awesome then as looking at the EX-S now. I really screwed up the painting here but if done right, it should be easy to highlight all the exhaust ducts surrounding the triple thruster configuration of the backpack. Then moving to the sides, there are the well jointed cannons that can articulate like a second set of arms. What can I say about the cannons, they are huge, they are the meat of this kit, and they really look like they can blow sh*t up.

Conclusion:
This kit, if you can find it, is worth the time and can look amazing if painted correctly and hopefully as the MG line brings back some of the F91 Silhouette models, I hope this gets included at some point.
