INTRODUCTION

This is the Destiny Gundam Special Edition, relesed the same time as the standard. If you have the extra cash pick this up, but be ready work with coated joints.

HEAD UNIT

The head is basically perfect, its proportionate, it works with rest of the design, and it has an assembly, the one thing really notable about the head is the slight red areas under neath the eyes, most other Destiny Gundams don't have these.

BODY UNIT

The body, once again, is almost perfect, it bends forward, swivels nicely atop the torso and looks great. The skirt armor is now the proper length, albeit if moved too much it may eventually get loose.

ARM UNIT

The arms are incredible, the bend forward and back, up somewhat and the armor is just the right size.

The hands, like all MGs after RX-78 One year war version, have small diagonal pegs that fit into notches on the weapons, for a snug fit, it also has a closed, not posable hand for the anti ship sword, and open palms to replicate the palm beam.

LEG UNIT

The legs are also great, they are no longer the short bulky limbs you had before, now they sleek and long, the knees ar double jointed, and the armor moves with the leg, the pistons in the feet are also a nice touch.

WEAPONS/BOOSTER/EXTRAS & FINAL VERDICT

The weapons are great, and on this version, you get extra "effect parts".

The Rifle looks pretty good and has a great looking for grip, the top of the middle of the barrel can be removed, so that one can paint siome details in there.

The huge anti-ship sword now folds properly, with a sliding mechanism at the bottom of the blade, and the end being jointed with middle, the handle is now longer, allowin the sword to be held with both hands, it also comes with a nifty little beam part. It should be noted that it can't be held with one hand, at least not with poasable-fingers hand.

The giant cannon is pretty nice, very long compared to the other versions, it also folds.

The boomerangs are also good, with four beams, two long ones and two short ones, in addition, the special edition has two effect parts to replicate the throwing of the boomerangs, a long one(right) and a short one(left) that attach only to the open palms. The boomerang halves, however, quite fragile, so take care when removing them from the sprue.

The shield has a sliding mechanism, allowing it to extend, it attaches to a slot in the arm.

The special edition also in cludes one set of parts that recreate the palm beam, they attach only to the right open palm.

The backpack is a wonder, it no longer has ball joints, so it has nice, secure feel to it, the wings look incredible, big and pointy, just like the anime, they also have an ingenious mechanism allowing the small boosters to move with the giant wing halves, along with an nice little piston at the top. The special edition also includes a pair of luminous wings created PET and hologram sheet lamination, so when ex posed to light, they shine rainbow colors, they attach via small clear connectors that hook into the underside of the wings, the connection is rather loose, and if moved to much they will come apart and fall off.

The kit also includes really, REALLY tiny(1/100 scale) figures of of Shinn Asuka and Stellar Loussier, and the special edition comes with larger scale(1/20, clear figures of Shinn Asuka and Kira Yamato with circular stands, the figures attach via a peg in the figures right feet, and a slot in the stands.

Overall, you should get this if like Destiny Gundam and have the cash to spare.

Thank you for the review and is it by coincidence that the Destiny is displayed infront of a Volcano portrait :-)

Why yes, it is somewhat of a coincidince, but it's mostly because i put that portrait above the shelf. :D

I think this kit is worth more than the standard MG Destiny, mostly because of the huge wings. How wide is the wingspan of this kit?
